– the translator was competent to translate in the required language combination and
– the translation was done to the best of the translator’s knowledge, ability, and belief.
But that doesn’t mean it has legal value. To do that, you must notarize it before the Notary Public.
However, there are countries that use the system of sworn translators and have a different process. The sworn translator’s signature is enough for the document to have legal value. So there is no need to notarize them.
